It’s been an absolute mental hell these days! Over the course of the months i’ve been pouring information in my thesis and becoming more and more focussed on the details of Augmented Reality that i’ve neglected paying attention to a good flow through-out my document.
A few weeks ago at my greenlight-presentation (where I present my progress to the teachers who will then decide if should stop or continue), I got told they got great confidence I will deliver a great product if I kept going on like this. Which was ofcourse, on one side, a great motivator for me. I got a professional opinion that I’m doing great. And… in a sick and twisted way, it’s also a great demotivator. “Hey, it’s all easy sailing from here!” and bam! there went my attention span…
Last week my coach (for lack of better term?) at work gently pointed this out to me, which made me realize i’ve had a LOT more work to do on my thesis than i’ve initially had in mind.
But the good thing is he supervised (better term?) a lot of students, so he knew exactly which things needed change and where I needed to point attention to. My personal Obama… Hehe.
At this point i’d say my thesis is at about 90% and is nearing final draft-status. Which i’m happy about, but it’s WAY past my original schedule. I also had to make a big change in the practical part of my graduation. I originally had a plan to make a game for students who come to study in a big city and want to know the city in a playfull way. But as my thesis came to a more refined conclusion, I found out the practical part didn’t support that conclusion at all :(. So my supervisor coach (term?) and me sat down again and busted out this wicked new concept to show the city of Rotterdam through AR-scopes (details will follow when the time is ripe ;P).
On a brighter turn of events. The sun is really comming out these days, and i’ve made an agreement with my boss to spend my last 2 weeks fully focused on my thesis.
So, that’s it for today’s update. I hope this will give a more personal insight on the actual progress of my graduation. Back to work!
